Our week in pictures: I'm never getting 3 dogs

Chase is starting to play with toys more!

These dogs are back with their owners (thankfully)
I love seeing a glimpse into the future of my boys playing with each other
Seriously, these dogs are ridiculous. And I need to clean the door.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Chase was stylin' with his tennis shoes
Fuzzy pajamas! Crazy hair!
Landon just HAD to help me mop. I hope he still wants to in a few years!
Someone was tired

Things be cray (or maybe it's just me)

Welllll Logan and I didn't think things through very well. Because we decided to do this:
our bathroom
while watching these (for a week!!):
Logan affectionately calls them "the alien dogs"
and you know I've already got my hands full with these:

So yeah. We officially only have one functioning bathroom at the moment (which is great that we have another one, actually, otherwise we would NEVER update either bathroom). It just complicates things a bit because our bedroom is upstairs and we now have to go downstairs to use the bathroom/shower/get ready.

Today was just one of those days. I have 3 dogs that follow me around (literally. it's so.so.so.annoying), a toddler who acts a fool (like his daddy), and a cute baby that decided he no longer wants to sleep. And of course when I decide to nurse said baby, the 3 dogs and toddler decide to go nuts. Like, run around yelling/barking and eating each other's food. And I'm in the recliner trying to tune it all out. (Failing miserably, of course). Logan was at work as usual on a Sunday which makes me sad…but today actually didn't feel like a Sunday at all (despite us going to evening mass). Which makes me even sadder because it used to be my most favorite day ever.

I'm having a hard time catching my breath most days and I feel so silly sometimes because many of my friends have more kids than me and are homeschooling on top of that. So surely I need to get my act together, right?

But maybe I'm just being hard on myself. Because I have a tendency to make a massive to-do list and then get soooo discouraged when I cannot complete the silly to-do list. I just need to set the bar realllllly low because you never know when Marley will bark and wake up a sleeping Chase while I'm halfway through the dishes and you never know when Landon will decide to "help" me with laundry by throwing all the folded clothes back into the basket of unfolded clothes.

Not to mention Logan's work schedule is just ridiculous sometimes and because it changes on a weekly basis, I can't for the life of me get into a routine. It sucks. I know he's been having a crazy schedule for a year and a half now, but adding another human being into the mix that relies on me for nutrition just makes things even harder. (Have I mentioned that breastfeeding is HARD? Drains the life out of me sometimes.)

Today I came across this article and oh, how I needed to read it. Today. Sometimes I get so caught up in what I'm not able to do in my life right now when I need to remember that this is a season. A blessed season at that! A crazy one, yes. But when I think about where I was a few years ago, it really puts things in perspective.

I also read this post that I totally could have written myself. Except the part about always having a clean house. ;)

Advent always seems to come at the perfect time.

Our week in pictures: lots of fun around these parts

One sleeping baby
Two sleeping babies
I watched my cousin's kids one day and the oldest left this gem on my fridge (I write on my fridge like it's a big post-it note. Don't judge. ;) ) Apparently I have huge arms. And Chase has one strand of hair. :)
They were making Chase laugh! So cute.
Heart melted.
We were bringing oranges (from our bountiful tree!) to share at playgroup and Landon insisted on carrying the bag himself.
Landon randomly begs me to hold Chase. It's pretty cute.
My chubs!
Oh, another house project. Updating our upstairs bathroom FINALLY…(I hope it won't be a month until I can share the final product!)

Fundraiser fun

Okay, so maybe nobody cares about this, but I said I'd share more about our volunteer work we did this year…

Logan and I volunteered to head up the silent auction for a big fundraiser dinner in October. Since putting together an auction is a lot of work - collecting donations, putting together baskets, etc. - we actually started in April/May. And once August hit, things got crazy! Never mind the fact that I had a baby in July...
Our final product! We had about 11 tables full of stuff, with furniture scattered between them.
(That obnoxious white rectangle on me is my name tag…)

I was very much pregnant when we were asked to volunteer, and even though it sounded like SO MUCH WORK (it was!) and really, seemed crazy for us to say yes…I just knew we were supposed to help. Like, knew.

And it was the biggest and most successful silent auction the non-profit has ever had. I'm not bragging by any means (okay, maybe a little, ha) because we had SO MUCH HELP. Our auction subcommittee was the bomb diggity, and even though there were days where I worked on the auction all.day.long…God really blessed the work. Because He's awesome like that. And He likes saving babies. :)

God also blessed Logan and me because of it. October was by far the best month financially in our entire 5+ years of marriage, and I don't think that's a coincidence.

I know a lot of times it seems like it's not a good time in life to volunteer and that we're too busy, but really, when is it a good time? I know there are legitimate times when you just can't spend hours upon hours volunteering, but more often than not, we just need to make the time.

And of course, God will bless you for it.

Our week in pictures: maybe not

Ok somehow I only took one picture allllll week. Shame on me. I did record a few videos though...
This is a screenshot from a video of Landon making Chase laugh. Sooo cute.
Here's the lone picture. I'll do better next week. ;)

Our family of four

I have to share more pictures of our little family session I mentioned the other day. You should help me pick favorites! Well, these are my favorites, but help me narrow it down even more - specifically the ones with all four of us. Gotta send out Christmas cards, yo.

I used to say that I would SO not be one of those moms who dressed her kids alike…but sometimes I can't help myself. Foot in mouth once again. (The outfits though! Red pants! How could I resist?!)
I'm like really torn between these first 2 pictures! Which one should be the main picture on our Christmas card?! Which one should I blow up nice and big for our living room wall?!

Landon was playing with Chase's foot while we were trying to take serious photos, so we thought it'd be cute to kiss while he was doing that. Of course Landon stopped as soon as Tyler snapped the picture.
 My chubs!

 Typical Landon face!

I MUST have pictures taken every year! There's really no excuse. (That's me fussing myself for skipping last year.)

5 faves from this past week (vol.6)

I seriously have so many blog posts in my head and in my drafts folder that I will for reals publish one day. But for now, here are 5 favorite things that happened this past week!

1. Matt Maher and Toby Mac in concert!
As I mentioned earlier, Logan and I went on our first real date since Chase was born and it was so much fun. Matt Maher and Toby Mac in concert! I used to go to Christian concerts all.the.time. before I was married, and I'm hoping Logan and I can do that more often! Such a fun and exciting date. :)
They each had their own set, of course, but they also performed together. Hi-five!

2. Shopping!
While I was at my parents' house last week, my mom and I may or may not have shopped 3 days in a row. And I may or may not have spent $100 on clothes. But! That paid for 5 dresses, 4 skirts, and 4 shirts. Logan and I are cleaning out our closets and I'm really trying to just keep things that I LOVE and also work for multiple phases of life (pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.). So, bye bye to most of my skirts that have zippers. Elastic all the way, baby. (Except my jean skirt. I have high hopes I will be able to fit into it again one day. Miracles happen, right?)

3. Family Photo Shoot
We took some family pictures today! I'm getting a head start on our Christmas cards this year. Logan's brother took pictures for us when Landon was a baby, and I was slacker last year and didn't plan anything and totally regret it. So Tyler took a few pictures of us again, and although the session didn't last long (2-year old attention span and tired 4-month old), we got a few good ones and it makes me happy. Sneak peek! I'll post more later because that's what I do.
Shout-out to my ladies for making me look pretty! ;)

4. Breastfeeding Success
It's been quite the breastfeeding journey thus far with Chase, but so, so worth it. He's been getting very little to no formula lately (after having to supplement early on), and I was a little nervous about getting him weighed at his 4-month appt today. But his weight is great and I'm so thankful!
My friend shared this and I literally laugh out loud every time I think about it. Logan is still amazed at how much I can eat now! Gotta eat to produce da milk!

5. Lunch Surprise
Logan had off work yesterday too (Monday and Tuesday is our "weekend" this week), so we were running errands and stopped to eat lunch. There was an older guy eating by himself next to us when we first got there, but he left about halfway through our meal. Our waitress took forever getting our bill to us, so we finally told her we were ready for it. Wellllll, she told us the older guy paid for it already! We were so incredibly touched and grateful. You always hear about things like that happening but it was the first time it happened to us. Since we couldn't thank him personally, we prayed for him last night and I hope God blesses him for his generosity! #payitforward

Linking up with Jenna!

Our week in pictures: mini vaca edition

Most of the week we were at Mimi and Pops' house (my parents). Always a good time!
Outside fun. I'm preparing myself for Landon wanting to play baseball over soccer...
Baby boy loves outside!
This dude.
The more Chase is starting to interact, the more Marley is interested in him. And vice versa.
Chillin' with my boys in our pajamas (um, I look like I just woke up)
Future best buds
Yep, Chase is missing a sock
Our first date without Chase! I so wasn't ready to leave him but Logan bought tickets for a concert MONTHS AGO and, well, that's not exactly the best place to bring a baby...
Logan went back home a day before me so that meant Landon had to come shopping with Mimi, Chase, and me. Literally shopped til he dropped (fell asleep) - in the grocery cart. No lie.
4 months already! Love my little chubs
Landon can seriously fall asleep anywhere! He was playing and suddenly I realized he was quiet...sound asleep. (And yes, I did move him to a more comfortable place!)
