"When a soul recognises the will of God and shows a readiness to submit to it entirely, then God gives Himself to such a soul and renders it most powerful succour under all circumstances." - Rev. Jean-Pierre de Caussade

TobyMac, books I'm loving, and St. Ignatius (7QT)

1. Random thoughts
My college roommate Lauren is hosting a giveaway at her blog to celebrate her birthday (that was yesterday)! Go click over to enter for a chance to win Jamberry nails and tell her I sent you :)

I'm using the same quick take "categories" as last week because I can't for the life of me remember new ones that I thought of this week. Any suggestions?

2. Happenings this week
Logan and I went to another TobyMac concert (my Christmas gift to him)! Seriously, so fun. It was even better than the last one we went to in November!

But then I got sick so we stayed home mostly for the rest of the week. I can't really complain because I've been spared every other time the boys got sick in the last few months. Rather appropriate for Lent, I suppose.

3. Pictures from my camera
These pictures aren't from this past week…but that's because I usually only upload my camera pictures once a month. So maybe this isn't a very good category to have as a quick take...oh well.

4. What I'm reading
  • Jesus the Bridegroom by Brant Pitre - my SIL and I are doing this 2015 reading challenge and this is the book I'm reading this month (category is a genre you don't normally read). And wow, I didn't plan it as Lenten reading but it's actually pretty perfect for the season. I'm definitely intrigued by it so far and it's kind of blowing my mind.
  • A Mother's Rule of Life by Holly Pierlot - I started reading this again a couple months ago but am just doing a chapter every few weeks so it can really sink in. This week I read the chapter on the 4th P, Parent. I have a feeling I will be reading this book every couple of years.

5. What I'm thankful for
  • our family's health
  • coffee
  • freshly mopped floors

6. What's on my heart and in my prayers
  • Husbands and fathers - St. Joseph's feast day is coming up next week!
  • People with serious diseases and illnesses

7. Words that spoke to me this week
"If God gives you an abundant harvest of trials, it is a sign of great holiness which He desires you to attain. Do you want to become a great saint? Ask God to send you many sufferings. The flame of Divine Love never rises higher than when fed with the wood of the Cross, which the infinite charity of the Savior used to finish His sacrifice. All the pleasures of the world are nothing compared with the sweetness found in the gall and vinegar offered to Jesus Christ. That is, hard and painful things endured for Jesus Christ and with Jesus Christ.–Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Go see Kelly for me quick takers!
